Erik Johnson announced his retirement from the NHL. The defender spent 17 seasons in the league.  He was selected 1st overall by St. Louis in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
Last season, 37-year-old Eric Johnson scored 5 points (2 goals, 3 assists) in 36 games for Colorado and Philadelphia with a +1 utility rating. He had no points in 2 games of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
During his NHL career, Johnson scored 348 points (95 goals, 253 assists) in 1, 023 regular-season games with St. Louis, Avalanche, Buffalo and the Flyers, as well as 13 points (5 goals, 8 assists) in 57 playoff games.
He won the Stanley Cup with Colorado in 2022.
