Susie Wolff reported an unpleasant episode with an influential person from F1. F1 Academy Managing Director Susie Wolff shared her memories of an incident that occurred in 2007.
In her book Driven, Wolff described how she attended a Hugo Boss Christmas party. Susie wasn`t drinking, so she went to bed when the party moved to the hotel bar. At about two o`clock in the morning, the phone in her room rang - one of the most powerful men in Formula 1, who was drunk, was trying to contact her.
Wolff hung up, after which the man called again and asked what room she was in.
I smiled with effort - short and distant. No, no, don`t come to my room. “I hung up, ” Susie writes in her book. When the phone rang again, she pulled the wire out of the wall. A moment later, a man knocked on the door and pulled the handle.
What should I do if the door opens? I couldn`t figure out who to call for help. I studied the room layout. Closet. Door to the stairs. If he manages to break in, I will sneak into the closet, wait, and then run away as soon as I get the chance, ” the book says.
Wolff recalls that she could not sleep that night, waited until dawn and left the hotel. The man later apologized.
Susie recalls that the incident was frightening because of the man`s enormous power.
